If you wish to progress within the Further Education or the Lifelong Learning Sector, the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training will give you the knowledge to and skill set to do so. The course is designed to expand your practical teaching skills and develops you further to work in a wide range of contexts. The qualification will give you the necessary understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a Further Education teacher such as legislation, equality, diversity, inclusive learning and developing your learners.
In order to successfully complete the Diploma in Education and Training qualification, you are required to complete 100 hours of teaching including observations. The teaching can be paid or voluntary, each learner is responsible for arranging their own practice.
Along with their course materials, learners will receive comprehensive guidance from your Tutor, giving you plenty of information on what is required during the teaching practices, observations, and the types of activities that you will need to complete (including examples of the types of evidence that will need to be submitted).
What are the entry requirements for this qualification?
- Learners must be aged 19 +
- You must undertake a formal initial assessment for English, mathematics and ICT (if your tutor highlights any issues they will direct you further)
How is it achieved?
Learners must produce the following which will meet the learning outcomes for the units:
- Portfolio of evidence
- Records of lesson plans
Learners usually take between 8 and 12 months to complete this qualification, however, you have the flexibility of 24 months to fully complete the course (extensions may be considered in certain circumstances).
