The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) has been designed to provide an introduction to teaching for individuals who would like to work or currently work within FE Colleges, Independent Training Providers and/or Local Authorities.
It can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, such as:
Individuals not currently teaching or training – achievement of the qualification does not require practice other than microteaching, unless units from the Learning and Development suite of qualifications are selected;
Individuals currently teaching and training, including those new to the profession – although the qualification does not require practice (see explanation above), opportunities may be made available to observe and provide feedback on a trainee teacher’s practice; and
Individuals currently working as assessors, who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching.
How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?
The recommended guided learning hours is a minimum of 48 hours. This is a guidance only
How is the qualification assessed?
This qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence which must cover all assessment criteria of the units selected. The portfolio of evidence will be assessed and internally quality assured by the Centre.
What next?
Individuals achieving this qualification may wish to progress onto the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (RQF), or assessment qualifications, or quality assurance qualifications.

Course Fees
The course fee for the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) by distance learning is £250.00

All applicants must be at least 19 years of age on commencement of training leading to the qualification.
No formal pre-requisite qualifications are required; however, applicants should be at level 2 in English and Maths, and be competent with I.T.
Applicants must complete the qualification’s requirements within six months of registration.
A one-month extension may be allowed for completion of the qualification, at the tutor’s discretion, provided the learner’s portfolio is very near completion.
Payment of the course fee must be made prior to any training commencing.
All submitted work must belong to the learner, and no plagiarism is allowed.
Micro-teach sessions can either be observed by the course tutor / assessor, or if preferred a video recording of the micro-teach is allowed.
No refunds can be made once the applicant has registered for training.
This qualification can be undertaken face-2-face, or by distance learning, at the learner’s preference.
